Our Technology
Construction on our first barge is underway.
Our barge will encompass all aspects of processing in one place: fish delivery, grading and sorting, freezing, storing – you name it. This different approach to processing results in better quality, improved value, and increased efficiency. Check out a 3D rendering of our first barge in action (below) and stay up to date with construction by subscribing to our newsletter.
The comforts of home, the conveniences of town
Circle’s first barge brings all of the perks and necessities of town directly to the fleet. Our full-service process is comprehensive and efficient, on a massive scale. From our patented fish unloading system (halves unload times and quadruples unload capacity) to our quality measurement system (objectively measures the quality of each fish to connect price to quality), we are trailblazing the future of wild seafood.
Longer than a football field, wider than the length of an 18-wheeler, and taller than the length of a tennis court, Circle’s first barge will freeze up to 500,000 pounds of fish per day (to a core temperature of -40 degrees), as well as hold and transport more than 10 million pounds of fish in super-frozen cold storage.
We’ve tailored our innovations and approach to each of Alaska’s unique salmon fisheries and will introduce unique innovations that best fit each fishery and method of catch, from seiners in Southeast and Prince William Sound, to drift and set netters in Bristol Bay.
Our first barge will start in Southeast Alaska in 2024 and return to Aberdeen to provide the highest quality wild salmon in the world to global markets, on-demand and year-round. We will build more barges to service other parts of Alaska in 2025 and beyond.
