US salmon producer Circle Seafoods announced this week that its flagship freezer barge will return to southeast Alaska for its second summer buying wild-caught pink and chum salmon.

Independent fishermen who adopt high-quality onboard practices aren’t just producing better fish. They’re creating a new class of product that deserves its own space in the market.

“We’re running full steam ahead,” Eren Shultz, co-founder of Circle Seafoods, told IntraFish.

With the debut of its new Frozen Alaska Pink Salmon Fillets, Wild Alaska salmon processor Circle Seafoods is betting big on the “underdog” of the salmon world.

The economics of Alaska Wild Salmon are broken. Circle’s business model is predicated on delivering better-quality salmon at lower cost than other processors, generating higher demand at an affordable price.
